All Saints Catholic School’s Production of Little Mermaid, Jr. is More than a School Play
NORWALK—The All Saints Catholic School Drama Club, supported by the Fine Arts Department, presents “Little Mermaid, Jr” from April 5-7th in the school’s 600-seat auditorium. Each year, the student actors play to capacity crowds, and this year’s ticket sales are trending toward another weekend of sold-out shows.
The Drama Club is led by the head of the Fine Arts Department, Mrs. Maurya Brown, who directs the cast of 45 students, manages the stage crew of volunteer teachers, staff, parents, and students, and oversees the elaborate set designs, which are created in-part by her Fine Arts students.
This year’s performance is Mrs. Brown’s 10th year directing the Drama Club’s performances, and cast members range from 5th through 8th grades. The show will feature 8th Grader Brayden Bloom as heroic Prince Eric, 7th Grader Amy Hernandez as adventurous Ariel, and 8th Grader Emily Lamphier as Ursula, the villainous sea witch.
“Every year I am overwhelmed with the remarkable talent within our school,” Mrs. Brown commented. “From my Fine Arts students who help create our sets, to the cast and crew who spend over 100 hours preparing for opening night, this show is a true labor of love.”
“I’m thankful for Mrs. Brown’s dedication, and am incredibly impressed with our students,” said Mrs. Linda Dunn, Principal of All Saints Catholic School. “Their collective energy, enthusiasm and commitment is inspiring, and it’s what keeps audiences coming back every year.”
Tickets can be purchased at the door for the Friday, April 5 (7 pm), Saturday, April 6 (7 pm) and Sunday, April 7 (2 pm) performances. Reserved seating at the evening performances is $15, and General Admission tickets to all performances are $10.
