WESTON—Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3 (rain or shine) will be the Family Fun Carnival at St. Francis of Assisi, located at 35 Norfield Rd in Weston.  Starting at noon and ending at 6 pm each day, the Carnival includes inflatables, games, hayrides, live music, food, drink, craft vendors and drawings for prizes.

Inflatables appeal to children of all ages. Younger children have fun on the dual slide, a Jurassic Park bouncy house and a bouncy house combined with a slide.  Older kids can enjoy bungee and laser tag.  Bracelets will be sold each day for all-day limitless rides. The very popular horse-drawn hayride is back on Saturday from 1-5 pm and is included in the cost of the bracelet.

There is a lot to do at the Carnival. Children enjoy face painting and there are games for all ages such as Soda Pop Ring Toss, Candy Game, Pop a Balloon and Break a Plate, with lots of winners all day long. Those over 21 can enjoy more adult games such as Win Some Cheer, Mystery Boxes and Outdoor Fun. There will also be craft vendors, a Silent Auction and a Drawing for high-value prizes.

Local food trucks will be there both days, including Lobstercraft, Cheezy Duz-It, Tony Pizza Napolitano, R&R (Jamaican) catering and Mr. Softee. Carnival fare such as hamburgers and hot dogs will also be available along with wine and beer.

Come for lunch, dinner or a snack, all accompanied by live music. On Saturday, Fairfield School of Rock will perform from 1-3 pm, followed by Furious George Band at 3:30-5:30 pm. On Sunday, Fairfield School of Rock returns from 1-3 pm, followed by Doug Allen from 3:30-5:30 pm.

Sandra Jester, carnival chairperson commented, “We missed this last year, so we’re coming back even bigger and better than before with a two-day event. This is the 11th anniversary of the Carnival and we love how this has become a fun event to bring families in Fairfield County together. With food, entertainment, rides, games and lots to do, there is something for everyone.”

All animals and their pet parents are invited to a blessing of the animals before the Carnival on Saturday at 11 am in the St. Francis of Assisi parking lot. St. Francis is the Patron Saint of Animals and he had a great love for animals and the environment. Born in 1181, he preached that it was our duty to protect and enjoy nature and everything in it.  In his honor, all pets will be blessed.  All religions are welcome.

Event sponsors are Fairfield County Bank and Commerce Park Children’s Dentistry and Orthodontics (Dr. Mary Ritter).
