FIRST FRIDAY LECTURE SERIES at St. Luke Church in Westport. Fri., Oct. 19, the former Government leader, Joseph A. Califano, Jr will discuss his recently published book: Our Damaged Democracy. On Fri., Nov. 2 Jennifer Miller, Ph.D. will address the timely topic of ethical issues currently facing the pharmaceutical industry. On Fri., Feb. 1 Msgr Andrew Varga,  D.Min, will discuss the history and theology of the Liturgy of the Mass. On Fri., March 1, Professor Harold Attridge Ph.D. will share with us his insights into St Paul’s Letters to the Romans. On Fri., April 5 Sister Janet Ruffing, RSM, Ph.D. will discuss women mystics. On Fri., May 3, Professor Frederick V Simmons will discuss astrobiology and Augustinianism, an interesting and contemporary way to understand some basic aspects of Christianity and science. Each evening begins at 7 pm with a wine and cheese reception. The lectures begin promptly at 7:30 pm and conclude with a question and answer session until approximately 8:45 pm, after which many gather to meet the speaker and discuss the lecture with each other. St. Luke community welcomes our diocesan community to join us at these first Friday lectures.
