"Longing to be Transformed" Lenten Retreat @ Holy Family Retreat Center

WEST HARTFORD—Join Liza Peters, retreat team member at Holy Family Retreat Center, on Wednesday, Feb. 26, for an Ash Wednesday reflection titled “Longing to be Transformed.” A day session will be offered from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and an evening session from 6-9 p.m. Both programs will include Mass and the distribution of ashes. The day program includes the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Participants will examine the Gospel readings from the six weeks of Lent and discuss how these readings lead our hearts to be opened and transformed.

“Lent is a time of transformation, when each of us is called to pray, fast and give to others,” says Peters. “We long to be more like Christ, and during this holy time, we reflect on those habits that get in our way.”

The cost to attend either session is $40 and includes lunch or dinner.

In preparation for Easter, Holy Family will again offer its Triduum Retreat, “The Path of Transformation,” from Holy Thursday, April 9, through Holy Saturday, April 11.  Open to men and women, the retreat cost is $325 to stay through Saturday brunch and $350 through Saturday dinner and the 8 p.m. Easter Vigil.

The Holy Week and Easter Sunday schedule at Holy Family is as follows:

  • Holy Thursday, April 9, Commemoration of the Lord’s Supper, 8 p.m.
  • Good Friday, April 10, Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion, 3 p.m. Taize Evening Prayer Service, 7:30 p.m.
  • Holy Saturday, April 11, Easter Vigil, 8 p.m., followed by reception.
  • Easter Sunday, April 12, Mass, 10:30 a.m.

Holy Family Retreat Center is located at 303 Tunxis Road in West Hartford.  For more information on any of these events, visit www.holyfamilyretreat.org/lent or call 860-760-9705.
