Memorial Day Remembrance Mass @ St. Andrew Church

BRIDGEPORT—The St. Frances X. Cabrini Council 4096 of the Knights of Columbus and are having their annual Memorial Day Remembrance Mass on the Sunday before Memorial Day, May 26 at the 11:30 am Mass at St. Andrew Church in Bridgeport. The council would like to invite all to attend the Mass to show patriotism in supporting veterans and military personnel local and afar, and most importantly for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and its citizens within.

The Knights hope to honor all of those who have passed on as a way to never forget them. Their annual ceremony has honored WWII vets all the way up to those returning from Afghanistan today, with declarations and plaques for their services.

A Color Corps from the Knights of Columbus, flag bearers from the all of the military branches and an Honor Guard from the Marine Corps League will all be present, as well as a Housatonic Det. from Stratford, a team of rifle corpsman from Port 5 Naval Det. from Fairfield and many State Senators and Representatives from the Bridgeport area. Local dignitaries such as Mayor Ganim, Police Chief Perez, Fire Chief Thode and many of your fellow City Council Members will also be present.

A special ceremony of “TAPS” presented by several buglers and speeches from some of the dignitaries will be held on the church’s front green after the Mass. A coffee social will conclude the day’s events in the church’s lower hall.
