Peace Light @ St. Peter Church

The 2019 Peace Light is being transported from Bethlehem to Vienna to New York and will soon arrive in Danbury!

Join us for the Ceremony of the Peace Light!

Thursday, December 5th at 6:00 pm in St. Peter Church

104 Main St. Danbury

Bring the Light of Peace to everyone you know this holiday season!

Bring your friends and neighbors!

Bring a candle to gain a share of the Light of Peace in your own home and share the Light of Peace in your community and the world!

This year we will also be having a solemn procession outside of the church where we will join our Latino brothers & sisters in their annual tradition of lighting candles for Our Lady to commemorate Her Immaculate Conception!

The Peace Light from Bethlehem campaign was originally organized in 1986 and is dedicated to facilitating the distribution of the Peace Light from Bethlehem throughout the North American Continent. Each year, a child from Upper Austria fetches the light from the grotto in Bethlehem where Jesus was born. The light is then flown to Austria from where it is distributed at a Service of Dedication to delegations from across Europe who take it back, with a message of Peace, to their own countries for use at ecumenical services throughout the Continent. Scouts and Guides can then take the light on to houses of worship, hospitals, homeless shelters, old people homes, prisons, and places of public, cultural and political importance – to anybody who appreciates the significance of the “gift”.
