STAMFORD—In a time when teenagers nationwide are facing increasing pressures here-to-fore unfamiliar to previous generations, Trinity Catholic High School in Stamford is hosting a public seminar open to all parents of middle school and high school students. The event is free and open to the public.
“What Are the Teenagers Up to Now?” will be held at Trinity’s Auditorium at 926 Newfield Avenue in Stamford, Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at 6:30 pm. The seminar will deal head-on with teen issues such as vaping, dabbing, social media overuse and more.
Elizabeth Jorgensen, principal and director of Insight Counseling in Ridgefield, Conn., will speak on current teen trends and how to keep children safe. A veteran speaker and teen issues advocate, she is a nationally-recognized expert in motivating resistant teens to make positive changes. She provides highly-effective counseling services to independent and public school clients, in warm and compassionate environments.
“Liz is bringing to Trinity and the greater Stamford/Norwalk communities both considerable insight and expertise of great value to schools and families today”, states Scott Smith, Principal at Trinity Catholic and sponsor of the event. “She was awarded a Congressional Award in 1994 for her work in treatment innovation and direction. We’re honored to have that expertise available to us here.”
The Trinity seminar is presented in association with the Newport Academy (www.newportacademy.com) a renowned center for the treatment of individuals ages 12-20 struggling with teenage depression, anxiety, trauma and substance abuse. Their mantra is “Empowering Teens; Restoring Families.”
The April 24th event at Trinity will enable parents to learn concrete steps to take if their teen or tween is vaping, has smoked marijuana or dabs, or is overusing social media or video games.
Natalia Cruz, Principal of both the Upper School (grades 6-8) and Lower School (PreK3-grade 5) of The Catholic Academy of Stamford states: “In today’s world of advanced technology, I strongly encourage families to take advantage of this opportunity to educate themselves on what sorts of information is out there and readily available to our children. “
The seminar is the latest in Trinity’s presentation series for parents and teenagers dealing with contemporary teenage and family issues.
